Enterprise Applications and Cloud Computing

May 30th, 2011 by admin No comments »

The cloud comouting has been a very hot topic in the last two years, there were also a lot of cloud comouting applications have been released for enterprises. When more and more big enterprises like Google and Microsoft lanuched their cloud computer services, for those CTOS or Managers from other small IT enterprises or Non-IT enterprises, do we really need the cloud computer service and how to choose the suitable cloud computer service?

Enterprise,Cloud Computing

I had been working for the National Geology Association for 12 months as an software engineer before I joined FortesLED(A LED Module Manufacturer), during that time, I was in charge of some website projects which need a lot of dedicated servers, we have to leave a lot of our budget to bu servers, operation system and the platform. After consulting our it outsourcing company, they give us a comparison between normal dedicated servers and cloud computer servers:

Year 1st 2nd 3rd
Dedicated Servers $5500(Hardware & Software included) $1000 $1000
Cloud Computer $750 $750 $750

For the normal dedicated servers, it took us a lot of money on hardware and software, besides, we have to undertake the cost of the upgrading for the hardware every 3 or 5 years, employ an enterprise network management team to keep the servers and network running health and safe, did the small companies really has so much budget and engineers?

In fact, after I join FortesLED, a non-IT enterprise, we handled all of our website, data center, IT safety business to cloud computering services, my IT apartment only run the website and find the best outsourcing developers. At lease for enterprises like mine, they will benefit more from cloud computing than before.

But the cloud computing is not suitable for all the enterprises, for example, the enterprises which required high security, they can’t deploy any of their business on the cloud couputing servers at this moment because no none can guarantee that there is no security flaw.

So, if you are don’t know wheather you can use the cloud couputing services, find a technology consulting company and they will help you will your IT business. After that you can enjoy the feelings on the cloud.

SEO/SEM Tips For Business Website

January 22nd, 2011 by admin No comments »

More and more companies have increased their budget on the Internet Market in recent years, so how to take the most use of the Internet is an important intellectual discipline, here are some SEO&SEM tips for business websites which I summarize from my three-year-experience.

User Experience

Most search marketing engineers don’t pay attention to the user experience, they just analyse the most suitable keywords and then optimize the ranks. But the search engineers can only bring you visitors, whether they will become your customers depends on a lot of factors while user experience is the most important one. In my opinion, the user experience includes the web design, website speed, easy to use and privacy security.

Web Design: I usually find some business website simple and ugly, terrible layout and color blending, which makes the website seems hard to use and unsafe, so remember a high quality SEO web design is necessary and find the professional designer to do the job.

Website Speed: Although web hosting is enough for most small business website, use the steadier delicated servers instead if have more than 3000 visitors per day.

Easy to Use: Visitors should know how to proceed the shopping immediately when they want to buy something.

Privacy Security: Made the customers’ privacy and the deals safety, you can analyse and dig the database but you mustn’t reveal it.

Long Tail Keywords

When more and more companies pay attention to SEO&SEM, some keywords may become very hot and strong competed, for those new companies, you can’t compete with the financial magnate or a old website with high weights directly, just find some long tail keywords and you will benefit more. In fact, the long tail keywords is match the user search habits and these part of visitors usually have a higher conversion rate. For example, when you have a SEO service company for the local business webiste, you can use the long tail keywords such as SEO Dallas, SEO services Dallas or SEO company Dallas.

If you want to find out the most suitable long tail keywords, you can use the Google Adwords keywords tools or Google Trends to analyse it.

Advertisement Online

Business website can’t only depend on some keywords, sometimes you should put some advertisements into the Internet to attract visitors. Generally speaking the companies will buy some advertisement packages on some websites or buy keywords advertisement on Google or other search engines, but now I think most business websites have ignored precision marketing, which means we should leave more budget on the small websites that can help us increase profits.

Advertisement Chart

As the chart shows, we usually arrange our budget like this, remember don’t spend much on big websites’ advertisement package unless you have a very famous brand. If you don’t family with internet marketing, you can fnd a professional company to help your ppc campaign management.

If you want to play FLV files on your web site, the usual practice is upload your vedio to Youtube, then copy the HTML code and paste on your page, but for the professional business sites, we should use our own player and leave the vedio file on our own servers in case emergencies.

If Google PageRank Disappear From Google Toolbar

November 13th, 2010 by admin No comments »

Google PagerankIt has been more than 7 months since Google PageRank updated the last time in 02 April, many webmasters are discussing whether Google will put off the Page Rank from the toolbar, as one of those SEOers who concern about every detail that could affect the rank, I’m just thinking what we should do without the Page Rank.

Although many people said that we should not pay so much attention on the page rank because it is not the only factor that affect the ranks, I think pagerank is a comprehensive achievement of all the optimization work, the higher the more obviously. So the pagerank is as important as the number of the external links in my search engine optimization philosophy. But when more and more people could not deal with the pagerank correctly, it is not surprising if the pagerank disappear one day, webmasters or SEOers should have their own methods to evaluate what they have benefit from the optimization work instead of depending on pagerank.

For example, when you want to build your external links, you may find the link building services or exchange links with other websites. Some people think we should only purchase or exchange links with the websites who’s pagerank is higher than ours, but in fact, high pagerank not equals high weight, besides the pagerank we should know the number of export links, the age of the site, the content quality, the user experience, the pages indexed by search engines and DMOZ, etc.

At last, I want say pagerank maybe important to webmasters, but our final target is more traffic or more orders. Bulid the links, relational sites, and high quality content, improve your user experience, post some articles, even there is no pagerank, we can still have the rank.

October 3rd, 2010 by admin No comments »

Have you ever watched the British TV play The IT Crowd, you couldn’t believe that even in those big companies there are so many staffs who knows only a little about computer. Most of the time the comouter is used as a typewriter rather than a useful tool. What;s more, the big companis can afford an IT apartment, but for the small companies, the IT department is unnecessary and redundance, so for those people who work at small companies or want to find a new job, it will be better if the HR knows that you are good at computers more than the office software.

HP Officejet J3680 All-in-One Printer

Last week the administrative department of my college bought 40 HP Officejet J3680 All-in-One Printers for each office, but unfortunately most of the geology professors didn’t know how to connect the printers to their computer or laptop, so I wrote this article for those people who don’t family with computers and printers after solving my tutor’s problem, even the sellers arrange for the delivery and installation.

  1. First, remove the printer out of the package box and check if there are any damages, then onnect the power cable to a power adapter.
  2. Connect the square end of the USB cable to the printer and the rectangular end to your laptop or computer.
  3. Turn your computer and printer ON, Your computer should find the newly attached hardware, and recognize it as printer. For those who used windows 2003 or below, you may have to install some drivers of the printer, you can find the driver CD-ROM in the package box.
  4. Install the necessary software, just follow the instructions for software installation and it is optional if you don’t need the additional functions.
  5. Open any document and click on Print in File menu or click on a printer icon in the toolbar, if it prints as you want, congratulations, our work is finished successfully.
Add Ink Cartridges to a printer

If you have bought the used printers or the printers cann’t print clearly, it is the time to refill ink cartridges or toner cartridges to the printers, they are just hungury. Here are some steps and tips for the beginners.

  1. First you must find out your the brand and the model number of your printer, then search the internet or go to the shops to find the most suitable ink cartridges, you can also read the instruction of the printer in the pachage box. Must notice that all the inkjet cartridges and the toner cartridges are different.
  2. Locate the “door” on your machine which will give access to the ink cartridge. While every machine will be slightly different, this access point should be a fairly obvious one. Open the door and gently pull out the spent ink cartridge. Use this cartridge as a guide when shopping for a new one at the store. Each manufacturer uses slightly different cartridges, so be sure to find one that is compatible.
  3. Get the new inkjet cartridges and peel off the packing, then release the ink into the machine.
  4. Gently insert the new cartridge into the appropriate slot and close the access door. If your cartridge is for a color printer, be sure to align color with color and black with black. Your machine will automatically recognize the new cartridge, as long as you purchased a compatible model, that is it.

With these two skills you can use the printer without troubles, if you have any other IT or computer promlems, feel easy to find the answers at feelblog.com.
